I have worked in the coffee industry in Ireland since 2004. Working as the Product Development Specialist for Urnex Brands I collaborate with coffee machine manufactures throughout the world on existing machine issues and future design solutions. Previously I worked for Bewleys as the Technical Innovation Manager. I am the technical advisor for IFSA (Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance), a committee member of EFCEM (European Federation of Catering Equipment Manufacturers) and the current Events Coordinator for SCA Ireland. I am applying for the position of National Coordinator as I feel that my industry knowledge as well as the experience that I have gained working with the SCA Ireland committee and the members will allow me to bring a fresh view and new way of creating a more active and cohesive coffee community in Ireland.

Coffee and People - that's what floats my boat! I am very fortunate that I have had a long, happy career with both. From the early days of SCAE in Ireland, running competitions when the signature beverages were espresso and coca cola with ice cream - to the beast of a competition that the IBC/WBC is today! I am a big believer in people power and all that can be achieved with the right motivation and momentum and its safe to say that its exciting times now for SCA and all that it will, and has achieved ...

I started my life in the coffee industry in Dublin in 1999. Since then, I have worked as a barista, a café manager and for the last 10 years have been involved in training.
I have been around competitions since 2008, as a competitor and more recently as a national level sensory and head judge.
I have benefited hugely both personally and professionally from the experiences I've had with SCA Ireland, and I'd be delighted to have the opportunity to give back and contribute to the organisation.

Aidan Durnin

I've been volunteering with SCA(E) Ireland for around 6+ years and have been working as the current communications coordinator for the past two years after I was nominated to take over. Working in IT with a technical background I've brought new life to our website along with making our social media active and more lively year round, not just at competitions.

Having taken on the ambassador programme and running events with the ambassadors I would like to continue building the chapter from a member point of view. We worked with Brian noonan in Galway and helped support a latte art throw down which Renata or current latte art champ judged. This led to more members signing up and Brock sponsoring our cup tasters. We supported Irena in cork hold an evening 'cupping with a Q grader event which was very successful and led to more members joining. We are currently working on an event in Dublin and actively seeking more ambassadors from around the country to come on board. I'd like the opportunity to have some more time in this role amd grow the SCA Irish Chapter activity. Many thanks Lizzy

Eithne O’Flaherty

My name is Eithne, I'm from Dublin and have been working in coffee for a little over 2 and a half years, with 3fe Coffee. Starting as a barista, and then progressing to the role of Training & Events Manager in January 2017. In my time in this role, I have organised and co-ordinated both the 2017 and 2018 Irish AeroPress Championship, as well as many, many other coffee events, from informal cuppings to indept coffee talks, book launches to equipment releases, to coffee farmer tours around Ireland! Last year, I got to know the competition scene a bit better, as I judged both the Irish Barista Championship (semi-finals & finals) and Irish Latte Art Championship (semi-finals & finals).

Alin Giriada

Hi! My name is Alin Giriada. I'm an AST in all CSP modules, Q Grader and Q Assistant Instructor. I also have a Masters degree in Education and Training Management. I do believe that the community deserves a better access to educational services and as a Education Coordinator I intend to invigorate the educational scene by organising all the CSP courses, workshops and meetings. Also, I will focus on improving the communication between the national chapter and the members of community as well as for more transparency in the decision taken by the chapter. Thank you!
