The Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) is part of the emerging global movement of new approaches to economic thinking and doing. Aiming to help create 21st century economies that are regenerative and cyclical by design, DEAL strives to meet the needs of all people. This approach is better known as: Doughnut Economics.
In the last few months, the SCA has been sharing early insights to better understand the overlap of the Doughnut Economic approach in the specialty coffee sector, as explored in the recent SCA News Article Coffee and a Doughnut: Understanding “Circular Economy” Frameworks. The SCA continues to use and learn from the “Doughnut Design for Business” and plans to apply it to future learning opportunities.
Through the Sustainable Coffee Agenda, the SCA keeps moving forward with its vision for creating a thriving and profitable coffee sector for all the actors in the coffee system. This challenge calls for a new collective mindset and leadership approach, being more conscious, purposeful, and strategic to create an intentional future with greater possibilities for all actors across the coffee value chain.
To keep expanding on the concept of Doughnut Economics and how it affects the global coffee community, SCA Sustainability Director, Andrés Montenegro will host a conversation with Erinch Sahan, the Business and Enterprise Lead at the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, to gain his perspectives about the tools and approaches that DEAL is championing for the redesign of businesses, and their transformative potential in the coffee realm. Join us on Thursday August 17, at 8am PDT | 11am EDT | 4pm BST for an engaging webinar on doughnuts & coffee, where we'll discuss how embracing the circular economy can lead the coffee sector to a sustainable future and make coffee better, for all.
