René León Gómez is currently Executive Secretary of PROMECAFE, a regional collaborative program that promotes technological development and modernization related to coffee production within 10 countries along with the support of agricultural research and technology institutions such as IICA, CATIE and WCR. He graduated as an Agronomical Engineer from Zamorano University, with a masters in B.A. and Finance from the Central American Business University (UNITEC). He has been working with coffee for more than 15 years, along with his personal experience as a small coffee producer. The main focus of his work is to promote strengthening and development of coffee production, emphasizing on the needs and constraints that limit profitability and economic sustainability of small holders producing coffee in Honduras and in the Promecafe region, addressing issues based on research, cooperation, innovation and the establishment of strategic alliances.
