Community Coordinator

I had a dream as a child to work with food and drinks and to serve guests. Taking care of others makes me happy. I pursued this dream in many ways, studying Hotel Management, working in the hospitality business, cooking for friends, and always searching for soul food. Wandering through life, coffee came on my path and that’s when all the puzzle pieces fell into place. So here I am—loving being a part of the coffee community for a couple of years now. A product and industry that is developing rapidly. Let's spread the word and experience. Let the senses and soul be surprised.

Education Coordinator

EN: Since I started to work in the field of coffee, I realized that this was an area many people did not understand yet, myself included. Therefore, I started to research the coffee’s journey from plant to cup through studies and SCA training. My mission became to share my knowledge, to raise attention about the impact each stakeholder in the value chain creates and coffee has on them. As Head of Academy for Julius Meinl in Austria & as an AST I want to support the local coffee community as SCA Education Coordinator by promoting the sharing and deepening of coffee knowledge.

Martin Sedlacek

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

My name is Martin Sedlacek, 40 years old, and living in the Tyrol. I’m an SCA member since 2014, although I´m not working in the coffee business. As a day job, I’m responsible for product safety of household appliances. Nevertheless, I’m well known in the coffee community due to taking care of the national championships.

This would be my third working period as a chapter coordinator for Austria. Would love to share my experience with new/other chapter coordinators to develop the Austrian coffee community further.

What is the role of an SCA Chapter?

SCA Chapter volunteers embody the values of specialty coffee by working to deliver education, events, and research to their regional communities. The Chapter personifies the vision and mission of the SCA in all activities. SCA Chapter elections enable SCA members to vote and select the volunteer committee who will be leading their local chapter's activities for the next two years. Learn more about SCA Chapters here.
