The SCA is looking for people who would like to contribute more time and skills by holding lead volunteer roles for the 2025 World Coffee Championships in Houston, Jakarta, and Geneva. These positions require a greater time commitment but are perfect for specialty coffee professionals who are open for leadership roles and would like to be more involved with the behind-the-scenes support of the event.

The Specialty Coffee Association is excited to announce the launch of a new education program, designed for those looking to learn more about the World Coffee Championships and begin their journey towards becoming a World Coffee Championships (WCC) Certified Judge. The new WCC Judge Skills Program will launch this November 8-10, with a trial event hosted at Lucca Café in Curitiba, Brazil.

Following the success of the 2023 Educator Summits, the Specialty Coffee Association is excited to announce the Educator Summit 2024 Series, taking place in five locations across the globe in October and December of 2024.

The Global Specialty Coffee Trade Show Comes to the Heart of Europe

World of Coffee Jakarta marks the first World of Coffee trade show in Indonesia and focuses on a deep-rooted connection to one of the largest coffee-producing and exporting countries in the world. Indonesia ranks as the fourth largest coffee producer in the world and the second largest in Asia. Indonesia, renowned for its esteemed coffee-growing regions such as Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi, offers a rich tapestry of flavors and traditions that are deeply ingrained in its coffee heritage.

In 2024, the SCA will introduce the first major overhaul to its membership program in decades. The new model will focus on providing value and connectivity to the growing international community, enhanced features for companies, and new pricing structure.

Registration is now open for 2024 Specialty Coffee Expo taking place in Chicago, USA next April. Expo is North America’s largest B2B event for specialty coffee professionals and will be taking place at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago from April 12-14, 2024.

On December 11, 2023, at an inaugural signing at the Panama Convention Center in Panama City, Panama, Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Chief Executive Officer, Yannis Apostolopoulos joined a welcoming crowd alongside The Specialty Coffee Association of Panama (SCAP) President, James Hunter Tedman, and The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama President, Adolfo Fabrega, to solidify the expansion of the World of Coffee Tradeshow to Panama in 2026.

World of Coffee Copenhagen will take place at Bella Center Copenhagen, June 27 to 29, 2024, and will feature the 2024 World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits and World Coffee Roasting Championships. This World of Coffee will run in addition to the SCA's annual World of Coffee trade shows in Dubai January 21 to 23, 2024 and the inaugural World of Coffee Busan, scheduled for May 1 to 4, 2024. This is the first time that the SCA has held three global World of Coffee trade shows in the same year.

Today, the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) released updated Rules & Regulations for the 2023 World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and World Coffee Roasting Championships. These rules will be used for the first time at the Taipei World Coffee Championships, hosted at Taiwan International Coffee Show in Taipei, Taiwan, from November 17-20, 2023.

We are so excited to announce World of Coffee Busan 2024, produced and delivered by licensed partner Exporum. World of Coffee Busan will take place at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) May 1-4, 2024, and will feature the 2024 World Barista Championship. This inaugural World of Coffee in Asia will run in addition to the SCA's annual World of Coffee trade shows in Dubai, scheduled for January 21 to 23, 2024, and Europe in June 2024.

Earlier today, SCA CEO Yannis Apostolopoulos formally introduced the beta version of the SCA Coffee Value Assessment on the Re:co Symposium stage, a thought leadership event that takes place prior to the Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland, Oregon. Yannis also unveiled an Early Adopter program designed to help the SCA refine the system’s protocol and forms through community feedback before it moves through the SCA’s standards development procedures.
